Full day tour of Lisbon

With six hours of sleep on the bus and another two hours sitting in the hotel lobby (our rooms won't be ready until much later) we ventured out for breakfast. At 9:30 our guide Carla arrived in her brand new Mercedes touring car and we took off for a full day of touring the old city.

We started with an overview of the city and then a tour of the Belem tower and the Jeronimos monastery and cathedral. We visited the grave of Vasco de Gama and the cloisters and then headed into the Alfama district for lunch and doing what we do best-eating!

Don't let the overcast skies fool you... It's been a very humid 80-85 all day.

Next up was a visit to the Moor castle for the views since the fog had finally lifted. We climbed to the top of two different Lisbon hills for more views and then enjoyed a narrated driving tour of the city and back to the hotel. With a "road map" in our head for tomorrow's free day we retired for a good night's rest.
