Today we tracked three hours west into the interior of Turkey to the Roman ruins of Aphrodesia and the temple of Venus-the most intact ruin of the ancient Roman period.
Along the way we stopped at a local farmers market for a stroll through the stalls. Once parked we were taken to the site by a tractor pulled wagon.
The site was huge with many reconstructed monuments and buildings. The highlight was the hide stadium and second smaller theater.
We toured the site for a couple of hours then had lunch at a nearby location followed by our drive back to the coast, this time by way of the toll road. We all fell asleep.
Back at the hotel we had a cocktail party in the room followed by dinner at Erczine again. We ordered the baked clay pot casserole. They crack it open at the table.
