Our little plane landed in the "desert" city early and once through customs and immigration we were met by our guide for the next six days - Ali.
Trees, grass, flowers, vast farmlands and 10 miles of high rise apartment buildings leading into the middle of the oasis with over 7 million people. Yikes!
The traffic was AMAZING! Bummer to bummer it took us 1 3/4 hours to go the 13 miles to the hotel. Crowded streets, calls to prayer, people in traditional garb...we aren't in Europe any more.
Once at the hotel we found Kathryn waiting. Looking great after nearly a 35+ hour flight(s) she had made reservations at a local eatery. But having to take a taxi there nixed those plans and we decided to eat at the hotel. A wonderful full ethnic buffet greeted us followed by bed. Tomorrow is going to be another big day. Sorry Sam, you're off the hook tonight!
