One of the unusual Egyptian temples in the whole country, primarily because it was built by Greeks and finished by Romans. It's only 2,000 years old yet matches designs of temples twice as old. The conquerors in a effort to appeal to the people erected this temple as a sign of respect for the current faith, and thus were more easily able to control the region.
In addition to the amazing amounts of carving and hieroglyphs, the sanctuary contained a barge and shrine coveted in silver, more precious than gold at that time.
Back to the ship, we once again rode carriages and received our daily barrage of vendor hassling. The carriage driver tried to convince us that the horse was skinny and he needed money to feed him, so I pointed to the grass along the side of the road and told him that it was free. He was not amused...smile.
Back on board we departed for Kom Ombo. Four hours of sailing and an Egyptian style BBQ on the sun deck...sweet!
