Phillae

We reached the temple by motorboat. Built by the Greeks and finished by the Romans this temple was dedicated to the goddess Isis. The columns all have different capital design and the pylons are complete and intact.

This temple was relocated much in the same manner as Abul Simbel when the high dam was built. They did an amazing job.

The carvings were nicely preserved and we were able to easily follow our guides description of the original story. By now most of us are able to read hieroglyphs on our own!

The temple story is a love story of Isis and Orisis. GTS...it's a cool story, especially the part where she reassembles is dissected body parts...trust me!
