A felucca is an ancient style Nile sailing boat still on use today. This afternoon we enjoyed a few hours on the water circling Elephantine Island viewing the gardens of Lord Kutchner and other prominent monuments. It was a pleasant and quiet activity-perfect after the early morning start and seven hours of driving.
We sailed up stream, stalled, sang a Nubian song, bought some trinkets, and then laid dead in the water waiting for a tow back. Ah, Egyptians and fickle breezes.
