A little Swiss town in the Middle Atlas Mountains

We left Fes and headed north east toward the mountains. The climb into the Middle Atlas Mountains was stunning as the terrain changed minute by minute. We passed hill town after town and many small villages, each with their assortment of minarets and mosques.

Construction is everywhere and people are working. The roads were great and the fields full of fruit trees and crops. Not what we expected to see on the "desert!"

At the summit we discovered a small town right out of a storybook. All of the homes and buildings had steep pitched roofs and chalet style architecture. This was also the location of one of the kings summer homes. Lots of snow falls here. It was so out of place to see. In the middle of twin was a natural rock formation on the shape of a lion. One ear and the eyes and nose were augmented. Otherwise the rest was as found. Pretty cool!
