On to Meteora

We left the Sanctuary of Apollo at Delphi and headed east over the mountains and into Thessaly.

We stopped for a dramatic view of the alpine village of Arakova before our lunch stop at a local family owned taverna.

After lunch we headed north over two mountain ranges and a plateau and then on to the Thessilean plains.

The drive was four plus hours viewing stunning scenery. It was not until we were about twenty minutes from the end of our journey that we first spotted the Meteora formations. Settling in at our hotel at the base of the rocks we wandered on to our deck to find a spectacular view for the rest of the evening. The color of sunset on the formations was stunning!

Ah, life is sweet!
