Driving the Peloponnese Peninsula

Our afternoon destination is the village of ancient Olympia. The drive took us over several mountain ranges and some pretty narrow and winding roads. Our driver, Lyonitis, did a superb job. We stopped at a charming mountain village for a rest stop and wandered around for a while. There was a mountain bike marathon just ending and we watched the finish-great timing! The village was sweet with stone and timber buildings and is apparently a favorite winter ski resort (yes, in Greece!)

Our day ended in the sleepy Olympian village. Dinner tonight will be at our hotel with a late morning before visiting the site of the first Olympic Games of Ancient Greece-exciting!
