Cairo by night

Following the museum we kept right on moving. We drove deeper into the center of the old quarter to the Khan al Kahli bizaar. Tourist trap central and the hungry vendors outnumbered the tourists ten to one. Our security guard, Mohammed 2, took us through the gauntlet. After having been attacked by countless vendors at every turn throughout the day, it was like being thrown into the literal lion's den-and we were fresh meat. Twenty minutes in vendor hell and we'd had enough. We had our fellow lead us out and we got the hell out of dodge!

We drove over to the river. There we boarded a traditional felucca (sailing boat) and enjoyed a quiet undisturbed 45 minutes sailing the Nile. It was great!

A half hour later we were at Abu Sid for a lavish feast. Mind you, we've been eating HUGE meals for days, and here was yet another. The meal was spectacular-colorful, delicious, and to much. We were stuffed before the appetizers arrived. The entrees were delicious and the Sisha pipes were a huge hit. Several of us partook of the apple and peach flavored smoke. And our tour agent showed us how to blow it out our nose. It was a riot!

Our FOURTEEN hour day ended back at the hotel. Tomorrow is 4x4 ATVs on the sand dunes!
