We enjoyed a lazy day with an early breakfast and a few hours ashore for some last minute shopping. Several of us went back to the Winter Palace Hotel for a cup of coffee and some free Internet time; some slept in.
Our boat sailed at noon heading up river to Edfu. We spent the entire day on the upper deck enjoying views of the riverbanks, the farms and small villages, and the occasional glimpse of an ancient ruin. The mountains were a surprise. The desert is anything but flat.
Lunch and dinner were lovely, both served in the dining room. Going through the locks at Esna Dam was interesting as we were raised twenty feet high to the new water level.
We docked late evening and enjoyed a small cocktail party before readying ourselves for a big day of sightseeing tomorrow.
