Marrakech

We had a lovely breakfast at our riad. It was nice to have a slow morning for s change. Our guide met us promptly for a full day tour if Marrakech. He was a bit rude at first as if he did not want to do the tour. As the day progressed he became more and more pleasant and engaging. It was very strange. When I showed him that I was reading the Koran and he offered to exchange verses everything changed.

We toured the famous Jem Adar square and saw the snake charmers. Was so scared with all the vipers and cobras crawling around that i forgot to take iPhone photos! We visited the old Jewish quarter and the ancient medraza and toured the mosque. Then we wandered the souks and shopped for spices and jewelry. We ended up at an apothecary where we had a presentation on both herbs for medicine and eating.

We had lunch in a roof garden above the square. The food was good, to much of course...and enjoyed the sun and the people. It was Friday and the calls to prayer were interesting.

Ali met us afterward and took us to the Marjelle Gardens where we spent the better part of an hour in the peaceful and quite beauty of a private space full of beautiful plants, flowers and fountains.

Back at the hotel we enjoyed some wine on the terrace and a swim before departing for our evening activity.
